German automaker BMW\u00a0said today that it has canceled a \u20ac2 billion ($2.15 billion) order for EV battery cells with Northvolt.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n German media Handelsblatt<\/em> and manager magazin<\/em> reported that the Swedish lithium-ion battery maker could not deliver on time on a long-term supply contract for battery cells agreed with BMW in 2020.<\/p>\n A BMW spokesperson said today, \u201cNorthvolt and the\u00a0BMW\u00a0Group have jointly decided to focus Northvolt\u2019s activities on the goal of developing next-generation battery cells.
