    Canadian startup teams with Mercedes-Benz to upcycle EV batteries

    The deal with Moment Energy of Port Coquitlam, B.C., will bring the automaker one step closer to creating a circular economy for its EV batteries, says Sumreen Rattan, co-founder and COO of Moment Energy.

    “Electric vehicles… are expected to make up 70 per cent of U.S. automotive sales by 2030. With this growth comes tens of millions of end-of-life EV batteries that are being improperly managed,” Moment Energy said in a statement. “On top of that, these batteries still have an average of 80 per cent of their original capacity remaining when removed from vehicles.”
